Sock it to drugs!

It is red ribbon week. All week there is a special theme each day. Today was "too smart for drugs." Kids and teachers wore their favorite college tshirts.

Tomorrow is "sock it to drugs." Wear your craziest socks to school tomorrow. Did you know I have a collection of crazy socks?

If you see this before school tomorrow, vote on which pair of socks you think I should wear by leaving a comment! The one or two with the most votes will be the ones I wear!

Enrique held his own election. His friends voted at lunch recess to help him decide the name for his new pet fish. What name was the winner?

Today the wild things voted for best pet! Woah!! This was quite an election! All the kids wrote their votes on a ballot. These two candidates were tied at the end! Woah!!!! Ask your child how we chose the winner!

We have been reading wonderful stories and identifying: characters, setting, beginning, middle and end.

After reading with your child, ask them to identify those parts of the story.

The following pictures were taken today while the children were writing down the characters and setting. You can use the photo of my chart to see how I taught the students to do it.

Book Fair

Check out these readers!! Your students have the opportunity to read books in both English and Armenian because there are in the F.L.A.G. program.

Tomorrow we will have our first FLAG-Armenian Book Fair in the front of the school. There will be a block of time scheduled for each FLAG classroom to select their books. Use this opportunity to buy books for your personal library, as well as help our build school and classroom libraries of Armenian books through donations. Please read the note sent home today for more directions about the book fair!

International Walk to School Day

Tests This Week

There will be two tests this week.

Unit 2 Math Test on Friday will be given in Armenian. I will send home a practice test test to go over on Wednesday. Use all the Home Links as a study guide.

There will also be a science test on Weather on Friday. I will send home a study guide on Wednesday for you to go over with your child.

***We have been studying the concepts in both tests for a few weeks now. I'm sure the children will all do great if you take some time to study :)***
